S.A. church employee dies of coronavirus

City officials reported a second COVID-19-related death on Tuesday.

The woman, who was in her 40s, was being treated at University Hospital, where she died Tuesday. It’s not clear if the patient had any underlying health issues.

The woman, was an employee of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the church said.

The city’s first COVID-19 related death was reported Sunday. The patient, a woman in her 80s, was being treated at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio and had a history of underlying health issues. She died Saturday. No other information about the patient or her case was released.

As of Tuesday, there are 69 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bexar County, according to city officials.

The updated totals show the number of community spread cases increased to 18 as of Tuesday, the previous number was 16.

In total, 32 cases are now travel-related, 10 cases are close-contact, 18 are community spread, and nine remain under investigation.
