Rudy Gay won’t suit up against Kings

Gay will not be available to play against his former team tonight.

Tonight the San Antonio Spurs take on the Sacramento Kings in their first preseason game of the year. Unfortunately, this game will not see the recently acquired small forward, Rudy Gay.

Last season, Gay tore his achilles while playing for the Kings. Since then, he has been rehabbing to get back on the court.

Hopes were that the former King would suit up for tonight’s game due to a flurry of encouraging reports regarding his comeback.

On September 28th, Melissa Rohlin of mysanantonio.com reported that Gay is now “pain-free” in his achilles. This along with positive reports on his performance during a team scrimmage, had many excited about watching him play.

However, the powers-that-be seem to be taking a more conservative path by resting him. Hopefully, Spurs fans will be able to see Gay on the floor this Friday, when San Antonio will be hosting … the Sacramento Kings.
