Rob Gronkowski reveals hope for Buccaneers’ Tom Brady after divorce

Retired tight end Rob Gronkowski didn’t return to help Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady during the playoffs but nevertheless wants only good things for his “best friend.”

“As a friend and a teammate of Tom’s through my whole career of 11 years, you just always send your support and love to him,” Gronkowski told Page Six’s Emily Selleck. “Even when I’m not playing with him, [I] love to see him be successful. His resume, his discipline is second to none. He’s just such a great teammate. You want to see nothing but success for him.”

Brady and Gisele Bündchen confirmed their divorce after 13 years of marriage on Oct. 28. It has since been reported that Gronkowski, who retired for a second time after the 2021 NFL season, contacted the Buccaneers in November about a potential return to the club ahead of the postseason tournament. Gronkowski ultimately remained retired, while Brady guided the Buccaneers to an unspectacular 8-9 record that was good enough for Tampa Bay to win the NFC South title.

Tampa Bay hosts the 12-5 Dallas Cowboys in a wild-card playoff game this coming Monday night.

Gronkowski spoke with Page Six ahead of his “Gronk Beach” party set to take place in Phoenix the day before Super Bowl LVII occurs at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. The 33-year-old is also working with FanDuel for a unique “Kick of Destiny” Super Bowl campaign.

As much as Gronkowski seems to be enjoying life off of football fields, whispers have suggested he and Brady could team up for a third time. Brady can hit free agency when the new league year opens in March, and he and Gronkowski have been linked with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Comeback’s Sean Keeley pointed out that Brady and Gronkowski have won four Super Bowls together and possess the NFL record for the most postseason touchdowns notched between a quarterback and receiver.
