Report: The Spurs have conducted pre-draft workouts with Austin Reaves and MaCio Teague

University of Oklahoma guard Austin Reaves had a workout with the San Antonio Spurs, per Ty Jager of News 4 San Antonio’s Spurs Zone.

Jager also reports that Baylor University Senior MaCio Teague worked out with the Silver and Black.

Reaves led the Sooners in scoring and guided them to a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. And Teague was an instrumental part of the Bears’ historic upset of Gonzaga in the NCAA Championship.

At 23 and 24-year-old respectively, both second-round prospects are on the older end of the spectrum for the 2021 Draft Class, but it wouldn’t be shocking if they ended up on an NBA roster next season.

Austin averaged 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game for an Oklahoma squad that reached a season-high seventh-place in the AP Poll this season.

MaCio averaged 15.9 points and shot 39.5% from beyond the arc on 5.1 three-point attempts per game for the second-most efficient offense in college basketball.

Both wings were early entrant candidates for the 2021 NBA Draft. Reaves was one of the 69 players invited to the Draft Combine, while Teague was among the 40 players invited to the G League Elite Camp.

Collegiate players who have applied for early entry have until July 7 to withdraw their name from consideration for the 2021 NBA Draft to retain their remaining NCAA eligibility.

That deadline gives NBA hopefuls a chance to go through the draft combine (June 21-27) and watch the lottery (June 22) unfold before making a final decision on their basketball future.

The 2021 NBA Draft will take place on July 29 at 7 PM CST at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. ESPN and ABC will televise the first round, and the second round will air exclusively on ESPN.
