Report: The Spurs have conducted a pre-draft workout with Colbey Ross

The San Antonio Spurs conducted a pre-draft workout with Pepperdine University point guard Colbey Ross earlier today.

Ross worked out for the Washington Wizards on Tuesday and will work out for the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday.

At just six-foot-one and 185 pounds, a perceived lack of upside and small stature could cause some franchises to stray away from using one of their picks on the 22-year-old ball-handler.

With that said, Ross will likely find his way onto a Summer League roster, where he can establish himself as a surefire two-way contract candidate against high-level competition.

The undersized playmaker averaged 17.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game during his senior season and led the Waves to their first-ever College Basketball Invitational Championship.

Ross ended his college hoops career as a three-time First-Team All-West Coast Conference honoree and is the all-time points, assists, free throws, and minutes played leader in program history.

The Aurora, Colorado native was one of 353 early entry candidates for the 2021 NBA Draft. Ross kept his name in the talent pool as the deadline to withdraw and maintain NCAA eligibility passed on July 7.

The 2021 NBA Draft will take place on July 29 at 7 PM CST at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. ESPN and ABC will televise the first round, and the second round will air exclusively on ESPN.
