Report: Texans not currently open to trading quarterback

When the Houston Texans drafted C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 draft, many expected the team’s incumbent starting quarterback Davis Mills to become expendable.

And as KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson is reporting, the Texans have received some calls from other teams inquiring about possibly trading for Mills.

“Although there is trade interest in Mills, a former third-round draft pick from Stanford, he is unavailable, according to league sources,” Wilson wrote.

While Stroud will be Houston’s starting QB at some point, first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans made it clear that he wouldn’t just be handed the starting job. And in Mills’ eyes, it’s very much an open competition.
