Report: Seahawks have ‘done their homework’ on Jimmy Garoppolo

Before Baker Mayfield was traded to the Carolina Panthers last week, the Seattle Seahawks were often connected to the former No. 1 overall pick. They’ve also commonly be rumored to be a possible landing spot for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo if he should leave the Bay Area this summer.

On Monday morning, it was reported that the “expectation” within the NFL is that “Jimmy G.” will be traded by the end of July. The 30-year-old underwent shoulder surgery in March and is currently rehabbing from the injury.

Seattle traded longtime franchise quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster move that landed the franchise Drew Lock early in the offseason. Lock is expected to compete with Geno Smith for the starting gig under head coach Pete Carroll.

Garoppolo finished with a 68.3% completion percentage, 3,810 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions across 15 regular-season games last year.
