Report reveals Raiders’ approach to potentially signing Tom Brady

Las Vegas is pinning all of its hopes on acquiring Tom Brady in free agency and is not concentrating on solving the remaining problems throughout the organization.

According to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, the Raiders will “aggressively pursue” Brady in free agency. Las Vegas believes it has a strong shot at landing the seven-time Super Bowl champion and can trade nine-year starter Derek Carr.

Brady hasn’t confirmed an interest in Las Vegas. He said, “I don’t know,” when addressing rumors about him playing elsewhere in a Friday news conference.

Landing Brady would be monumental for Las Vegas. The organization needs more star power because it ranks 31st in home attendance, per Pro Football Reference.

A reunion with former New England offensive coordinator and Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels alongside playing with AP first-team All-Pro wideout Davante Adams might attract Brady too.

However, the organization needs to consider its long-term future. While Brady is a future Pro Hall of Famer, he’ll turn 46 years old next season, meaning he can’t be a part of the Raiders’ 10-year plan.

QB isn’t the only problem the Raiders have; they ranked 26th in total defense last season and blew five double-digit halftime leads.

Top-10 defenses aided Brady during his championship runs with New England and Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers ranked eighth in total defense when Brady won his last Super Bowl.

The Raiders haven’t won a playoff game since 2002 and only made the playoffs three times during the timeframe indicating the franchise is unstable.

The Raiders must fortify their organizational structure instead of relying on one player to answer all problems, even if it’s a player of Brady’s caliber.
