Report: NBA training camps likely to open December 1st

NBA training camps are likely to open December 1st if the league receives player’s union approval to begin the 2020-2021 season on December 22nd, according to a report from Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The Draft, free agency, Summer League, training camps, and preseason play are usually spread out over roughly four months, though this plan would see these processes squeezed into a five-week window.

The NBA has yet to set a date for the start of free agency, a Summer League substitute seems doubtful, the preseason might not happen, and a condensed regular-season scheduled could be on the table.

The NBA just finished the longest single-season in league history, and with only 72 days between the end of the NBA Finals and the beginning of next season, this offseason is shaping up to be strikingly short.
