REPORT: Manchester City Goalkeeper Set To Leave Club At End Of The Season

Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen is set to leave the club at the end of the current season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on Twitter.

In O’Rourke’s tweet, he wrote: “Zack Steffen has admitted that he has no plans to return to Manchester City at the end of the season after his loan deal at Middlesbrough ends.”

Steffen is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, who are managed by former Manchester United captain Michael Carrick. It’s unclear whether he intends to remain at Middlesbrough – currently, Steffen’s plans for his future are a mystery.

The 27-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire in the summer. As such, he is set to become a free agent when the transfer window rolls around.

So far this season, the American shot-stopper has conceded 36 goals in 34 games for Boro – on top of this, he has also kept nine clean sheets in the Championship.

Last season, Steffen made seven appearances in total for the Citizens. In those games, he conceded nine goals and kept just a single clean sheet. Often, Steffen looked unsettled during his time at City – when presented with dangerous situations, he tended to panic and make mistakes as a result.

He’s looked much more composed during his loan stint at Middlesbrough – perhaps the North Yorkshire club will be keen to snap him up upon the expiration of his contract? Only time will tell.
