Report: Cowboys continue pursuit of Odell Beckham Jr.

The Cowboys’ seemingly never-ending courtship of Odell Beckham Jr. continues.

Per The Score’s Jordan Schultz, Dallas and the 30-year wideout, who wants a multi-year deal, had positive discussions recently.

Reports of potential compensation for Beckham, however, vary wildly.
NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reported Beckham wanted a deal worth $20 million annually, while NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Beckham Jr. had made no financial requests.

Several teams, including the Cowboys, are interested in the three-time Pro Bowler.

During the regular season, Beckham Jr. to Dallas seemed guaranteed. Then the Cowboys changed their mind after hearing contract demands by Beckham, who was still recovering from an ACL injury.
Although the Cowboys weren’t at Beckham Jr.’s workout on Friday in Arizona, owner Jerry Jones said the absence didn’t reflect disinterest. Jones recently told the Fort Worth Star Telegram’s Clarence Hill Jr. he had a “very impressive conversation” with Beckham Jr.’s mother.
The market for the three-time Pro Bowler could determine Dallas’ actual interest level.

Th Cowboys, who have the fourth-most cap space in the NFL ($22.8M under the cap, per OverTheCap), may vie with several other teams for Beckham Jr.

The list includes the Jets, who have a strong selling point. On Wednesday on “The Pat McAfee Show,” four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers said he “intends to play for the Jets” Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, OBJ is on Rodgers’ Jets wish list.

If OBJ’s price is exorbitant, however, Dallas should drop out of the chase. Beckham Jr. hasn’t played a full season since 2019 or made the Pro Bowl in 2016. He’s not worth it.
