Report: Aaron Rodgers wants Odell Beckham Jr., others with him on Jets

It appears Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has some demands before he agrees to be traded to the New York Jets.

ESPN’s Dianna Russini (h/t Rich Cimini) reported Tuesday that Rodgers “has supplied the Jets with a wish list of free agents he’d like them to pursue and acquire.” Included among them are star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and Green Bay teammates such as receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb and tight end Marcedes Lewis.

While speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” back in January, Rodgers specifically named Lazard, Cobb and Lewis among players he’d “want to finish my career with” either as a member of the Packers or elsewhere. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Tuesday that “the Jets have expressed interest in the three Packers free agents,” but Schefter wasn’t able to confirm if Gang Green has contacted Beckham.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported over the weekend that Beckham is looking for a contract that pays him around $20M per year. The three-time Pro Bowl selection and Rodgers seemed to publicly flirt with each other this past fall, but Beckham didn’t play during the 2022 season as he recovered from the torn ACL he suffered during Super Bowl LVI in February of last year.

Beckham recently completed an open workout that was attended by representatives from the Jets. The 30-year-old played for the New York Giants from 2014 through the 2018 campaign.

It’s widely assumed the Jets and Packers are close to finalizing a trade after Green Bay president and chief executive officer Mark Murphy indicated late last week the club is ready to move on from Rodgers and start 2020 first-round draft pick Jordan Love. However, the franchises may disagree about the compensation involved, and Florio wrote on Tuesday that “there’s currently chatter in league circles that the two teams may be caught in a ‘game of chicken.'”
