Ratings Were Impressive For Cowboys, Eagles Game
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are two of the surprises of this NFL season so far.
Although both teams were expected to be in the hunt for playoff spots, no one expected the Eagles to be 6-0 or the Cowboys would be 4-2 with starting quarterback Dak Prescott out due to a right thumb injury.
These two teams squared off on Sunday night as NBC’s marquee matchup, and the ratings were outstanding.
In fact, it was the network’s most-watched NFL game in seven years.
The Eagles, who have one of football’s most productive offenses, especially when it comes to running the ball, got out to a 20-0 in front of their home fans.
But Dallas fought back with a vengeance, scoring the game’s next 17 points and coming to within a field goal.
But in the end, Cooper Rush, who is filling in for Prescott, went just 18 of 38 and threw three interceptions, with one of those interceptions coming with 5:16 left in the fourth quarter and the Cowboys down by nine.
Both teams’ fan bases are filled with ample optimism that a Super Bowl run may be in the cards.
It was just a couple of years ago that the NFL was dealing with depressed ratings, and there were many theories given as to why ratings were down.
But ratings have been creeping upward, something which especially became apparent last season.
This season has certainly been very interesting, as certain teams, like the Cowboys and Eagles, have done better than expected, while a number of championship contenders have been a disappointment.
In the end, it’s all about ratings and ad space for all four major pro sports in our nation, and higher ratings mean more prosperity for everyone involved in them.
