Raiders WR Davante Adams And QB Derek Carr Are The New Top Dogs

With all the hoopla about the AFC West loading up for the 2022 NFL campaign, you almost forget that the Las Vegas Raiders will take the field knowing they’ll deploy arguably the best collection of pass-catchers in football. At least one writer from NFL Media believes so.

How will Adams fare with the Las Vegas Raiders?

“Best friends reuniting at the pro level to chance a championship together is the stuff of Disney movies. On the field, the duo has a chance to be special.”

Around The NFL writer, Kevin Patra, compiled a top-ten list of the best new veteran QB-WR combos for the upcoming season. Believe it or not, Derek Carr and the aforementioned Adams took the top spot. (Sure, he listed Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy second, but let’s focus on the positive). Patra mentioned the storybook nature of the Fresno State teammates’ reunion before calling Carr an “underrated passer for most of his career.”

This pick should be an obvious no-brainer within all-league circles. Adams’s statistics precede him. As for Carr, Patra acknowledges that Carr has made the best out of what he’s been dealt with.

“Carr has been an underrated passer for much of his career. Playing on losing squads lacking top-tier talent will have that effect. But Carr proved last season he can win in crunch time and make all the big-time throws. He’s thrown for 4,000-plus yards in each of the last four seasons despite not having that field-tilting dominant WR since the Amari Cooper trade.”

The potential for something special is there…

Adams will be without a doubt the best weapon Carr has ever played with in his time with Silver and Black. Contrary to popular belief, he’s made a few unheralded names quite a bit of money. In fact, Zay Jones and Nelson Agholor should be sending Carr some Bible-themed fruit baskets on a weekly basis.

Combine the already reestablished rapport between Carr and Adams with the recently re-upped Hunter Renfrow, the soon-to-be-re-upped Darren Waller, and a stable of pass-catching tailbacks, and the recipe for a prolific Vegas offense is clear as day.
