Raiders News: Is Nate Hobbs Back In Time For Late-Season Run?

As it stands, the Las Vegas Raiders sit at 2-7, which is equal to their loss total from last season. If they’re serious about salvaging this year and trying to sneak into the postseason, all hands on deck will be needed. Among the contributors whom the Raiders are missing are defensive back Nate Hobbs. Well, Raiders fans got some good news recently on that note.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, the Raiders stated that Hobbs had been designated to return from injured reserve. The last time we saw Hobbs was in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Looking back, you can tell Hobbs was hobbled by his hand injury. He usually dominates his opponents at the line of scrimmage with his physical play, actively using his hands. A physical press corner, Hobbs was mostly ineffective, and rather than risk further injury, he was shelved. Since then, he’s been dearly missed, but if he’s indeed healthy, the Raiders could be receiving a major boost.

Raiders News: Nate Hobbs is back, but is it too late?

When asked by the media during his press conference, head coach Josh McDaniels did indeed confirm Hobbs would be back on the practice field.

“He’ll be back working today. And then we obviously would have to make the decision to pull them up at the end.”

The Raiders’ passing defense has given up between 226 and 235 yards through the air in the last four games. However, Patrick Graham’s unit has surrendered 17 passing touchdowns this year, with a total of 22 redzone touchdowns as well. All in all, it hasn’t been pretty, despite Rock Ya-Sin’s stellar play. Hobbs’ presence will surely be a welcomed sight on Sunday if he’s good to go. Facing a daunting task on the road in Seattle, the Raiders will need as much help as they can muster.
