Raiders Move Around Draft Board, Add Talent on Day 3

The Raiders made three picks in the early portion of Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft after selecting G Dylan Parham with the 90th pick Friday night. General manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels added a running back and two defensive tackles in the fourth and fifth rounds. Here’s a quick look at the group of new Raiders.

RB Zamir White (4th Round, 122nd Overall)

Just one day after the Raiders declined to pick up RB Josh Jacobs’ fifth-year option, the Raiders traded up in the fourth-round to add Georgia product Zamir White to the running back room. The Raiders traded up from pick #126 and swapped seventh-round picks with the Minnesota Vikings to get the deal done.

White rushed for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns last year for the Bulldogs on their way to the National Championship. White shared the Georgia backfield with RB James Cook, who was drafted 63rd overall by the Buffalo Bills in the second round on Friday night. White ran a 4.40 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, a stellar number, and will have a big opportunity to compete behind starter Josh Jacobs for playing time in 2022 and beyond.

DT Neil Farrell Jr. (4th Round, 126th Overall)

After originally trading the 126th pick to the Vikings to move up and take RB Zamir White, the Raiders and Vikings quickly struck another deal, sending the 126th pick back to the Raiders in exchange for picks 165 and 169. After the second trade up, the Raiders added Neil Farrell Jr. out of LSU.

Farrell Jr. measures in at 6-foot-4, 33o-pounds and won the 2019 National Championship with the LSU Tigers. Farrell is an older prospect who played five seasons in Baton Rouge and posted a career-high 9.5 tackles for loss in his final season. He was named to the Second-Team All-SEC in 2022 for his performance.

DT Matthew Butler (5th Round, 175th Overall)

After trading back with the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams, the Raiders went back up on the clock at pick 175 and double-dipped into the interior defensive line pool, selecting Matthew Butler out of Tennessee. Butler measures in at 6-foot-4 and 297-pounds. Butler fits a similar mold as Farrell, as Butler spent five years at Tennessee. Butler accumulated 47 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and five sacks during his season year.

As of now, the Raiders will add two more seventh-round picks to their draft class on Day 3, a draft class which currently stands as Memphis G Dylan Parham, Georgia RB Zamir White, LSU DT Neil Farrell Jr., and Tennessee DT Matthew Butler.
