PSG chief Luis Campos has hit out at Chelsea after their paperwork issues hampered a proposed loan move which would have seen Hakim Ziyech go to Paris.

The Moroccan midfielder looked all set to join the French champions until the end of the season, only for missed phonecalls and unsigned documents to delay proceedings until time ran out.

As Sportsmail reported in midweek, the French league rejected an appeal from PSG, and Ziyech was forced to return to London.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Campos told Telefoot that the situation was the fault of the Premier League side, with the Ligue1 leaders not to blame as Ziyech was at their headquarters in France and had undergone a medical.

Campos said: ‘We had the player with us, we had done everything. But as with all transfers, you need all three parties to work well.

‘In this case it worked very well for Paris Saint-Germain, it also worked well with Ziyech.

‘Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for the last party.’

In the aftermath of Tuesday’s issues, Chelsea said the situation was caused by a computer glitch

Another report from the chaos of deadline day revealed four missed calls from PSG made to Chelsea, in a bid to get them to send the right documents, which failed.

The Blues were also involved in trying to finalise a big deal to capture Enzo Fernandez for a club record fee, which obviously stretched their resources beyond that which PSG might have expected from a fellow European heavyweight.

Elsewhere in the interview, Campos said it was a key part of PSG’s policy to focus on their younger players, and that they were ‘discussing’ the matter of extending Lionel Messi’s stay in the French capital.

Without Ziyech to bolster their options, PSG still sit top of the Ligue1 table, and were able to secure a comeback to win 2-1 at home to Toulouse on Saturday

Meanwhile, Ziyech played the opening hour of Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Fulham on Friday night, before being replaced by Raheem Sterling.
