Premier League title and top four complete guide: Fixtures, key games, statistics and odds

A quite remarkable season of Premier League football is creeping towards its conclusion, with Manchester City in pole position to win yet another domestic title. 

Pep Guardiola’s side have strung together a formidable run, in which they have all-but snatched the trophy back from Liverpool‘s clutches. 

Though it may seem to be heading towards an inevitability, the title race is not yet over, with Manchester United and Leicester doing their utmost to make it a contest. 

As for the top four race, that’s a different story altogether. West Ham currently sit in fourth position, but there are clubs in abundance chasing down European football. 

Even Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham, who are down in ninth place, are still very much alive in the race. 

With the season reaching the business end, Sportsmail takes you through the all-important fixtures remaining.

Premier League title race 

Though mathematically there are a plethora of teams still able to get their hands on the Premier League trophy, in reality we have now – in all probability – boiled down to a three-horse race. 

Manchester City’s supreme form of late, in which they have won 18 consecutive matches in all competitions, including 13 in the Premier League, has put them firmly in pole position. 

Indeed, West Ham moved into fourth with an impressive win over Tottenham and are just four points off both Leicester and Manchester United.

However, it will take a Herculean effort for either United or Leicester to catch City – and they’re just the 10 points behind, as opposed to West Ham’s 14. 

It therefore makes sense to analyse the trio of Manchester City, United and Leicester in terms of the title race, before including West Ham in the battle for the top four. 

Premier League title race: Fixtures remaining 

Analysing the remaining fixtures, there are certainly a few factors that immediately jump out. 

Primarily, with City in imperious form and 10 points ahead of their rivals, they have a real chance to all-but rap up the title race in the next four games, which all come at home. 

City have lost just one home game from 12 this season, which came all the way back in September, when Leicester demolished them 5-2 at the Etihad. 

Guardiola’s side are a significantly different team now, however, and the fact that they haven’t even conceded a goal in their last six home games will have them feeling confident. 

As for Manchester United, their next three games will also be pivotal, with two of them coming against Chelsea and Manchester City, both away. 

Should they lose both of those contests, and should City continue to win, their title race could be over before they know it. 

As for Leicester, it’s essential they start closing the gap immediately if they are to have any chance. 

Brendan Rodgers’ side face Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham in their final three games of the season, all matches they could quite conceivably lose.    

They will feel confident in all three, however, having beaten both Chelsea and Tottenham by a scoreline of 2-0 this season, while also drawing 2-2 with Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.  

Premier League title race: Odds 

In the least surprising statistic of the day, Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to win the Premier League this season, with rivals Manchester United in second, and Leicester third.

Race for the Champions League spots

We now move onto the race for the Champions League spots, and this is where things really start to heat up. 

Where the title race looks to be heading in only one direction, the Champions League spots remain firmly up for grabs. 

As things stand, it’s West Ham who are in fourth place after a dramatic 2-1 home win over London rivals. 

However, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton all within five points – while the latter has a game in hand – they have no room for error now. 

Further down the line are Aston Villa, who are nine points behind but with two games in hand, while Tottenham down in ninth still in with a shout. 

It may feel harsh to leave Arsenal in 10th out of the list, but a gap of 11 points to West Ham seems a step too far for the Gunners this season, particularly as they have won just two games from their last six. 

Indeed, Tottenham have won just one from their last six, but if they win their game in hand, they are just six points off the top four. You cannot rule them out yet.  

Premier League top four race: Fixtures remaining 

Again, if we look at the fixtures remaining, there are a number of clear factors that will determine the race ahead. 

Starting with West Ham, what’s immediately apparent is the highly difficult run to come, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester within their next six games. 

Though they perhaps have a more favourable end to the season, on paper anyway, momentum is key and they could find themselves some way off the pace in the next few weeks. 

Chelsea also have a season-defining period up ahead, with United, Liverpool and Everton their next three games. 

However, it will also be a tough finish for Thomas Tuchel, who has games against City, Arsenal, Leicester and Aston Villa to negotiate in Chelsea’s final four games. 

Liverpool’s remaining fixtures against the big guns are more spread out – and indeed more limited – but it’s worth noting they still have matches against Chelsea, Arsenal and United.  

Similarly, Everton’s high-profile fixtures are more scattered, but they certainly won’t want to leave the race to the last day, with a tricky trip to Manchester City bringing their season to a close. 

Aston Villa have it all to do if they are to finish in the top four. They still have two matches with Tottenham and Everton to come, as well as clashes with Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool. 

Meanwhile, Tottenham have difficult matches against Leicester and United to come, on top of the north London derby at the Emirates.

Premier League top four race: Odds 

Of course, it’s entirely possible that neither Manchester United or Leicester – who are currently in the title race – will make it into the top four. 

However, in this race, they are the top two favourites, with United taking the No1 spot. 

Below them, it’s Sixth place Liverpool who are deemed the most likely to claim a top four spot, while Chelsea – who are currently in fifth – are just behind.
