Post-waiver wire fantasy football pickups for Week 11

Missed waiver claims are just opportunities to improve your roster with even better post-waiver players. Here are some to consider for Week 11.

QB: Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco 49ers)

Garoppolo is available in 41% of Yahoo! Sports leagues. He’s ranked just outside the top 10 this week by Yahoo and ESPN, just ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

Jimmy G failed to throw a touchdown last week because of a run-heavy game script against the Chargers battered defensive line. His 240 yards were his fourth most of the season. Garoppolo is surrounded by talent. You could do worse than a quarterback getting second-hand Christian McCaffrey yards.

In Week 11, the 49ers face the Cardinals. Only six teams have given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than Arizona. With injuries to Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray and four teams on a bye, Garoppolo has added post-waiver value.

RB: Jerick McKinnon (Kansas City Chiefs)

Everyone in your league is stashing running backs, as they should. It’s hard to find a ball carrier this late in the season. At this point you need a back with upside as a receiver, too.

The upside has arrived for McKinnon. He has six catches in each of his past two games. He has only four rushing attempts in those games.

In PPR formats, McKinnon could be your guy. He’s available in 80% of leagues and faces a Chargers team giving up the third-most fantasy points to running backs.

WR: Darius Slayton (New York Giants)

When a WR1 is available, you take him. Slayton has used the big play to put up some decent fantasy numbers lately. In Week 10 against the Texans, he had three catches for 95 yards with a 54-yard touchdown.

Slayton has three touchdowns in his past two games, and his fantasy points were a season high against Houston. Slayton, who leads all Giants receivers in points, is available in 75% of leagues.

TE: Tyler Conklin (New York Jets)

Conklin had a terrible game leading into the bye, but he’ll face a Patriots defense giving up the sixth-most fantasy points to the position. He has been targeted at least seven times in four games this season.

With teammate C.J. Uzomah being used as a blocker, Conklin could catch enough passes to get you by. He’s available in 84% of leagues and is ESPN’s TE16 in PPR formats.

DST: Washington Commanders

Washington’s defense tied the Minnesota Vikings for most fantasy points last week. It had a touchdown, a sack, an interception and three fumble recoveries to give the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss.

This week they face the Texans, a team giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to team defenses. DE Chase Young should also play after missing a year with an ACL injury. The Commanders’ defense is available in 62% of leagues and a top 10 play according to ESPN.

K: Joey Slye

Like Washington’s defense, Slye had his best game of the season against the Eagles. He converted all four of his field goal attempts, two from 55 yards or more.

He may not get that many attempts this week, but the long kicks are encouraging. The majority of Slye’s kicks have come from beyond 30 yards. Houston gives up the ninth-most fantasy points to kickers. Slye is available in 94% of leagues.
