Police ID Southwest Side man shot multiple times in dispute over money

A man who was killed at a Southwest Side home following an argument over money was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Richard Rodriguez, 49, was fatally shot multiple times after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Ripford Street, investigators said.

San Antonio police said at least one person was at the home confronting Rodriguez about money he owed, and the argument escalated.

As the assailant shot Rodriguez, a stray bullet hit a 41-year-old man in the torso as he was walking by outside, investigators said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The wounded pedestrian was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Police had not identified any suspects in the shooting as of Friday.
