Police ID elderly man killed while crossing Northwest Side road

San Antonio police have identified the man killed while crossing a Northwest Side street Thursday night.

Fred Lee Cameron, 61, was crossing Bandera Road outside of a crosswalk, police said. The driver of a lifted black Dodge Ram pickup truck struck Cameron in the outside lane.

The driver made no effort to stop and offer the victim assistance. Instead, the driver fled the scene.

Police are searching for the driver, who will face charges of failure to stop and render aid.

San Antonio police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed an elderly man on the Northwest Side late Thursday night.

A witness driving by the 1220 block of Bandera Road just before 11 p.m. and saw the man in his 60s lying in the street. They went to a nearby fire station and asked someone to check on the man.

When first responders arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police said there was not much to to on except for some vehicle debris in the street. No witnesses to the hit and run were located.
