Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sends message to Gabriel Martinelli after Arsenal brace vs Leeds
Ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken to social media on Saturday evening, to send a message of congratulations to Gabriel Martinelli.
Brazilian brilliance
The name of Gunners talent Martinelli has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines over the last couple of hours.
This comes on the back of the Brazilian’s latest starring display in Arsenal’s colours.
Mikel Arteta’s men made the trip to Leeds United for a Premier League showdown earlier this evening, eventually emerging with a dominant 4-1 triumph, to open their advantage over the rest of the top-4 chasing pack to a full four points.
Fellow youngsters Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were amongst the goals at Elland Road, but it was the aforementioned Martinelli who ultimately stole the show.
The 20-year-old, after opening the scoring against West Ham last time out, set Arsenal on their way once more on Saturday, finding the net inside fifteen minutes, before adding a 2nd (in clinical fashion) a short time later:

‘Gabinho’
Martinelli’s latest brace, though, proved significant in so much more than simply setting the stage for his side’s latest three-point haul on Saturday.
In addition, it provided yet more evidence that the former Ituano man could well be ready to take his place in Arsenal’s frontline on a weekly basis moving forward, with his 2nd of the evening in particular having painted the picture of a prolific centre-forward in the making.
This comes at the same time as the long-time first-choice hitman in north London, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is banished to the sidelines, after being stripped of the club’s captaincy owing to his latest disciplinary breach last week.
In turn, it would not have come as all that much of a shock if Aubameyang had opted to keep quiet tonight, amid what would be understandable frustration with how well Mikel Arteta’s troops are managing without him.
The Gabonese, however, is evidently not one for sour grapes.
Taking to Instagram on the back of his first-ever Premier League double on Saturday, Gabriel Martinelli posted the following celebratory message:
And Aubameyang, in a clear show of support to his up-and-coming teammate, quickly took to the comments section of Martinelli’s post, to unveil a simple reply:
‘Gabinho’, the hitman posted, accompanied by a pair of love heart emojis:
