Thomas Tuchel has wasted little time in getting acquainted with his new set of players at Chelsea, as concerns continue to swirl surrounding N’Golo Kante’s current mindset.

Lamps out

The major talking point in English football over the last 36 hours has of course surrounded ongoings at Stamford Bridge.

This comes with the Blues, on the back of weeks of questionable form, having come to the tough decision to part ways with manager and club legend Frank Lampard.

This came despite the English tactician having actually overseen 3 wins in 4 over the space of the last two weeks, the latest of which saw the Blues book their spot in the FA Cup’s last-16 at the expense of Luton.

Chelsea’s official statement regarding the decision read:

We are grateful to Frank for what he has achieved in his time as Head Coach of the Club. However, recent results and performances have not met the Club’s expectations, leaving the Club mid-table without any clear path to sustained improvement.

There can never be a good time to part ways with a club legend such as Frank, but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed now to give the Club time to improve performances and results this season.

Tuchel in

Roman Abramovich and co., though, have since wasted little time in securing a replacement for Lampard.

The tactician chosen by the Blues hierarchy to guide the club into a new era was Thomas Tuchel, who, just over 24 hours after a spot became vacant on the bench at Stamford Bridge, was officially named Chelsea’s new boss:

The German, in turn, was widely expected to take over his first brief training session tomorrow, ahead of the Pensioners’ meeting with Wolves.

Tuchel, however, was evidently eager to get his adventure in southwest London underway as early as possible, instead opting to jump straight into the action at Cobham this evening:

Whilst the eagerness of their side’s new boss to get started will no doubt bring a smile to the faces of the Chelsea faithful, what will certainly not, however, is the latest word surrounding star midfielder N’Golo Kante.

This comes amid claims that one of Tuchel’s first tasks after taking up the reins at Stamford Bridge will be to convince Kante to stay put.

As per a report from the Telegraph, concern is beginning to spread in the capital that the club’s World Cup winning midfield dynamo has become unsettled by the number of recent changes at the club, which could, in turn, see Kante seek out an exit.
