Pep Guardiola rules out return to Barcelona insisting his time at the Nou Camp is ‘over’

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has written off a possible return to Barcelona insisting his time at the Nou Camp is done. 

Following Josep Bartomeu’s resignation as Barca president, candidate Victor Font spoke about his fondness to bring back the City boss if he were to be elected.

After the Citizen’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Premier League, Guardiola told BT Sport that his career with the LaLiga club is ‘over’.

‘My period as Barcelona manager is over. I think once in a lifetime you have to do things. 

‘There are incredible people who can be in charge there, now for example Ronald Koeman. 

‘It’s over, I will come back to my city to see my club, to watch the game, it’s done.’

The City boss is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and speculation over his future is likely to increase as the season goes on. 

Guardiola had previously expressed his desire to stay at the Etihad Stadium past this current season.

He said: ‘I am incredibly happy here. I’m delighted to be in Manchester and I hope I can do a good job this season to stay longer.’
