Paulo Dybala limps off in tears after suffering an injury in Juventus’ win over Sampdoria

Paulo Dybala was forced off injured during Juventus‘ 3-2 win over Sampdoria in Turin on Sunday afternoon. 

Dybala scored Juve’s opening goal just 10 minutes into the game after firing a low shot into the bottom corner. However, he limped off soon after with what appears to be a muscular injury. 

As a result, Juventus will be forced to go without Dybala when they face Chelsea in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Dybala sustained the injury when he closed down a Sampdoria defender with an outstretched leg. 

The 27-year-old Argentina international landed awkwardly and was subsequently forced to sub off. 

Having visibly broken down in tears on the pitch, his team-mates rushed over to console him before he made his way to the changing rooms.

Dybala will undergo a full examination by Juve’s medical staff on Monday at their Contessa training ground but will not be expected to play on Wednesday.  

Allegri has also confirmed that Dybala will miss Juve’s Serie A fixture against Torino on October 2. 

Dybala – who wore the captains armband against Sampdoria -will be a huge loss for the Serie A team after providing several stellar performances during the 2021-2022 campaign so far.

Speaking after the game against Sampdoria Allegri said, ‘They will certainly not be available against Chelsea or Torino.

‘Then there is the international break. We hope to have them back after that, but this is part of the game.

‘Now it happens to us, later it could happen to someone else. We will need to be good to make up for the absences.’

Nevertheless, Allegri was happy with his team performance against the Serie A side. He said: ‘Today we did well in the defensive phase, but we made a mistake for the corner on their first goal and for their second.

‘We lost the ball while playing out from the back and got caught out. It can happen.

‘We needed to score goals and kill the game off sooner. But we are happy because we got our first home win, the second in a row, and now we can calmly prepare for the match against Chelsea.’
