Open Thread: Victor Wembanayama’s rookie stats are off the chart
He ranks in the top three of blocks, points and rebounds, while doing in with less minutes per game
Yesterday was a holiday, so technically this is the first day of the workweek for many of us.
Personally, I like to start my week off with something positive.
And for Spurs fans, there seems to be nothing more positive that Victor Wembanyama and his incredible talent.
This tweet hit me pretty hard:
People really don’t get just how good Wembys rookie season was pic.twitter.com/vjUmsNi0dV

“Of all rookies over the last 25 seasons, Victor Wembanyama ranks
- 1st in blocks per game
- 3rd in rebounds per game
- 2nd in points per game
- 96th in minutes per game”
Did anyone else here a mic drop?
He does more with less time than most players…in his first season…and he’s only getting better.
And keep in mind that some of those rookies were LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Pau Gasol, Yao Ming, Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Kristaps Porzingis just to name a few. And that’s the top picks. There are 30-40 rookies every year who get playing time on 30 teams. And we’re taking about a quarter-century.
Yeah, see if that puts a smile on your face as you trudge your way into the office today.
