Open Thread: The Spurs missing piece

Let the great NBA reshuffling begin

Yesterday Jesus Gomez posted a great piece on December 15th as the opening day and trade availability for many recently signed players.

While the Spurs are a stand pat sort of franchise, the topic does warrant discussion.

Last night, the Spurs did not see Jabari Parker in the game against the Bulls, not that they needed him or anything.

Previously, Trevor Ariza wasn’t suited up for the Phoenix Suns.

Tanking teams are ready to unload marketable assets to trade on hope in the future. Players on struggling teams (yes, I’m talking about you J. R. Smith) are looking to be traded to contenders.

The Spurs have really shaped up their defense in the last few games. Stars and bench alike are setting a tone. But with a stacked Western Conference every little bit helps.

Is there a missing piece out there the Spurs should be looking to lure in as the league makes it’s annual mid-year reshuffle? Where do the Spurs need to improve, and to what end can they afford to shake things up with the current squad?

I look forward to the discussion in the comments.
