Open Thread: The longevity of a handful of NBA draft picks

It’s been 20 years since Chris Paul was drafted.
When Victor Wembanyama was drafted in 2023, it had been 20 years since LeBron James had been drafted. The anticipation surround each of them drew comparisons.
James is the lone 2003 draftee to still be playing in the NBA.
This summer mark’s 20 years since Chris Paul was drafted.
Like James, he is the lone remaining NBA player from his draft class.
Both James and Paul will be forty when the 2025-2026 season launches.
The two have longevity in the NBA, which is saying a lot.
But just how rare are their careers?
I love this graphic. It shows every player who has been drafted and how many points they averaged this year.
It truly underscores the endurance of CP3 and King James.
Enjoy.
