Open Thread: Spurs Peter Holt is the most liked owner in NBA
A new survey determines how satisfied fans are with their team’s ownership
In a recent survey shared with Casino.ca, 3,000NBA fans revealed their level of familiarity with their team’s owner and gauge the fans’ sentiments towards them.
It should come as no surprise that San Antonio Spurs owner Peter Holt ranked first as the most liked NBA owner, boasting an impressive rating of 9/10 from San Antonio Spurs fans. Only the Phoenix Suns matched. Five teams –Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Oklahoma City Thunder – scored 8/10.
The Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Orlando Magic scored 4/10, the lowest in the survey.
What may come as more of a surprise was that only 28% of Spurs fans professed to knowing who Peter Holt was. Only Memphis had lower recognition with 22%.
The Dallas Mavericks fans knew who their owner was to the tune of 83%, which should come as no surprise as Mark Cuban is quite visible in television, advertising, and literally sitting and watching his game in the thick of it with his fellow fans. The Clippers also had 83% recognition, possibly due to their public changing of the guard amid the Donald Sterling scandal.
A takeaway from the entire survey showed that the more owner recognition a team has, the lower the satisfaction the fans have with that owner.
But no matter how you slice it, Peter Holt makes Spurs fans proud.
