Open Thread: Saying goodbye to Tre Jones

The Spurs point guard is on his way to Chicago
Trades always come at a cost. While the Spurs pulled off an amazing feat in acquiring De’Aaron Fox without letting go of any starters, there is still a loss.
Tre Jones was the longest tenured member of the San Antonio Spurs behind Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell (the latter being drafted earlier on the same night). He was picked 41st in 2020 by the Spurs. San Antonio was the only team he played for until now. He has raised his family here.
Jones has done everything the Spurs have asked of him. He started when the Spurs needed him and stepped into the shadows when necessary.
He’s remained ready and willing, and when he played, he brought added value to the team.
Off the court, he served as an ambassador for the team, always bringing smiles to fans at a wide variety of events.
Players come and go, and it is acceptable to lament the ones who made an impact.
I’m excited for the Spurs next phase, but I will miss Tre Jones.
One great thing about the Silver & Black is they do honor the former members of the team.
Assuming Jones finishes the season in Chicago, we will not see him again until next season. Rest assured Popovich and the team will make him feel welcome.
Until then, I wish him well and hope he continues to flash that winning smile and put his best foot forward.
Via Con Dios, Tre.
