Open Thread: Rudy Gay confirms Kawhi Leonard is a robot
Start your week with something humorous
On the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, hosted by Carmelo Anthony and Kid Mero, guest Rudy Gay was asked about playing with Kawhi Leonard during his time in San Antonio. The two shared one season together. The 2017-2018 season was Rudy’s first in San Antonio. It was Kawhi Leonard’s last. And that year, Leonard only appeared in nine games.
Host Kid Mero mentioned that they played together “for like five games” to which Rudy responses “was it that many?”
A few moments later, Rudy stated that although Kawhi spoke from time to time, “he’s still a robot.”

The robot comment harkens back to David Fizdale’s comments when the Spurs were playing the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2017 playoffs.

Gay shared that he believes Kawhi wanted a change of scenery and forced the Spurs hand. Instead of playing while dealing with the scrutiny and criticism, he just refused to show up.
