In one night, he hit his 800th 3-pointer coming off the bench, and then surpassed another 800 clubber to move into second all-time.

Last night, Patty Mills knocked down his 800th 3-point shot coming off the bench.

After hitting his 801st, he passed Dell Curry and is now the second highest three-point bench shooter for one team, behind fellow Spurs guard Manu Ginobili.

Mills joined the San Antonio Spurs in 2012 and won a title with the Spurs alongside Manu in 2014. He’s currently the longest tenured player on the team and the only remaining player from that championship squad (sans the return of Marco Belinelli).

In our previous day’s Open Thread, brunostrange commented “Until this year I probably wouldn’t have been in the camp that would support retiring Mills’s number, but I’ve come around on that.”

The argument can be feasibly made he could be the next great Spurs legend having earned the respect of his team, the fans, and the city.

Good on ya, Patty!
