Patty Mills is officially my spirit animal.
If you missed the Spurs pregame yesterday, Dan Weiss introduced this piece on how Patty Mills spent his All-Star Break.
“The reason for the trip was to go back and shed some light on some areas that are in need of a lot of help.”
During the break, @Patty_Mills returned home to assist the bushfire recovery in Australia. Good on you, Patty! pic.twitter.com/Tr8GLSTJ8s

The NBA stars of the Aussie national team helped bring awareness to the out of control fires ravaging their homeland, and Mills has been at the forefront of the movement.
It should come as no surprise that the indigenous basketball star, who has made a name supporting his native people as well as Native Americans, is a member of the San Antonio Spurs, one of the most community-oriented and worldly teams in the league.
Even Coach Pop surprised Mills a few years back by recognizing Mabo Day, celebrating the decision that awarded land rights to indigenous Australians.
While most players were relaxing, getting some sun, and living it up, Patty and his wife, Alyssa Levesque, were digging deep and helping out a community whose spotlight may have passed with the news cycle.
“They think that the biggest thing is that whatever’s in the mainstream media, for a certain period of time, once they stop covering it, people seem to forget or think that it is over.” Patty Mills
Mills and company are off until Saturday when they host the Orlando Magic.
