A PtR Series is about to get updated.

When I started writing for Pounding The Rock, I came in with the idea of writing about each of the members of the Spurs who have had their number retired. So far there are articles about James Silas, George Gervin, Johnny Moore, David Robinson, Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, Bruce Bowen, and Tim Duncan.

Not all of these players won a championship, not all of them were Hall of Famers, not all of them were even all-stars. But each contributed a piece to the Spurs story.

Since I started, two Spurs have had their jerseys added to the list: last season saw Manu Ginobili was celebrated and this season Tony Parker had a ceremony.

Over my vacation from work, I will be completing those pieces of the great Spurs number puzzle.

But in the meantime, I want to know- is there anyone else thus far who the Spurs should have honored with a retired number?

I know it’s hard to think beyond the Big 3 as their conclusion is the icing on the cake of the Spurs dynasty.

I have made the argument for Matt Bonner. Who else is at least worthy of a discussion? For you older HemisFair attendees, were there Bruise Brothers or other ABA crossover players who made a significant impact?

What about other championship contributors, there are five to chose from.

Let’s talk about those who left their mark and should be recognized . . . whether by permanently hanging at the AT&T Center or just in this discussion.
