Open Thread: De’Aaron Fox will wear #4 for the Spurs

The newest member of the Silver & Black is honoring his wife with his jersey number choice

De’Aaron Fox landed in San Antonio yesterday wearing an overcoat and beanie. He immediately shed the coat, laughing about the heat in Texas.

Fox will barely have time to get settled as he’s getting his physical before joining the team on a month’s long Rodeo Road Trip.

The former Kentucky Wildcat Fox originally chose jersey #2, but changed his mind and changed to #4 in honor of his wife, Recee Caldwell Fox.

As a teen, Recee attended Lady Bird Johnson High School here in San Antonio.

She went on to play college ball for UCLA Bruins, Texas Tech, and the California Golden Bears, wearing #4 for Texas Tech.

De’Aaron and Recee were engaged in 2020 and married in 2022. Yesterday, their son Reign celebrated his second birthday.

Both husband and wife work within the NBA, Recee has worked in the front office for both the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards.
