The motorcycle rider was waiting at the traffic light near the 15100 block of Nacogdoches Road around 11:50 p.m., when a Nissan 350Z started to rev its engine next to the bike. The driver of the motorcycle responded by revving its engine and when the light turned green, both vehicles sped off.

The Nissan turned into a shopping center near the light, but the motorcyclist continued to speed off. At the same time, a Toyota Sienna was traveling south on Nacogdoches and moved into the center turn lane to turn left onto Vigil View.

The minivan driver said she saw the motorcycle lights but thought she had time to make the turn, according to police. The motorcyclist was going so fast, he didn’t have enough time to avoid crashing into the minivan, police said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and has not been identified.

It is unknown if the minivan driver will face any charges.
