Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on chances of Amad Diallo starting for Man United vs Sociedad

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was this evening drawn on the chances of youngsters Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire being utilised from the off next week, on the back of his side’s win over Newcastle United.

The Red Devils were back in Premier League action a short time ago, in a meeting with Steve Bruce’s Magpies.

United headed into proceedings with their tails up, hoping to build on a morale-boosting, and thoroughly impressive 4-0 drubbing of Real Sociedad during the week.

And, when all was said and done this evening, secure another victory is precisely what Solskjaer and co. managed.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in Manchester with half an hour on the clock, courtesy of a rasping near-post drive:

Newcastle, though, to their credit, stuck at it, and levelled things up just six minutes later through star man Allan Saint-Maximin.

But the efforts of the visitors eventually proved to be in vain, as 2nd-half strikes, first courtesy of Dan James, and then from Bruno Fernandes, guided Manchester United to all 3 points:

‘Not sure it would be fair on them’

Whilst the eventual result of course proved what mattered most for all associated with the Red Devils this evening, much of the post-match chatter has nevertheless surrounded the young talents on the club’s books.

This comes with 17-year-old Shola Shoretire having been handed his senior debut versus Newcastle, just days after Amad Diallo did likewise in the Europa League.

In turn, speaking in his post-match interview this evening, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was drawn on the chances of either youngster being handed a first start this coming Thursday, in the 2nd-leg of United’s tie with Real Sociedad.

The Norwegian, however, was keen to play down such a possibility, albeit whilst confirming that both will be in his matchday squad once again:
