Odell Beckham Jr., Rams Agree To One-Year Deal

The Odell Beckham Jr. drama is over, for now.

According to multiple reports, the former Giant and Browns receiver has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. The signing ends a week of drama in which the former Pro Bowler was not traded before the deadline by the Browns and eventually found himself a free agent after clearing waivers.

Beckham Jr. was originally acquired by the Browns in March of 2019 from the Giants for safety Jabrill Peppers as well as a first and a third-round pick in that year’s draft. Ultimately, Beckham Jr. played 29 games for the Browns over two and half seasons. In that time, he had 114 receptions for 1,586 yards and just seven touchdowns. He missed nine games in 2020 with an injury.

Drafted by the Giants with the 12th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham Jr. burst out of the gate with three straight Pro Bowl seasons. During those first three seasons, he averaged 96 receptions for 1,374 yards and 12 touchdowns while playing just 14 games a season. He hit double-digit touchdowns each of those first three years with the Giants. He played in just four games in 2017, his fourth season with the Giants. He returned in 2018 in what was his last season. He has played in just one playoff game during his eight seasons in the league. He had four receptions for 28 yards.

Beckham now joins Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, and the star-laden, cap-ignoring Rams who sit a game behind the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West and who are in the thick of the NFC playoff race, a requirement from Beckham’s camp when choosing a new destination for the 29-year-old.

Since trade deadline day, the Rams have added former Bronco and All-Pro linebacker Von Miller and now Beckham with their sights clearly on the Super Bowl.
