Nine young stars hoping to be unleashed on the final day of the Premier League season 

On Sunday afternoon, the curtain will fall on one of the most eventful seasons in Premier League in recent history. 

Whilst Manchester City may have wrapped up the title and the top four places have been decided, there is still a Europa Conference League place up for grabs between Spurs, Aston Villa and Brentford. 

Meanwhile, at the bottom end of the table, two of Everton, Leeds and Leicester will join Southampton in exiting the league for the Championship next season.  

The final day also presents an opportunity for sides to look forward, and as well as some shiny new kits on display we could also see some new names take to the field for a first-team chance. 

Here, Mail Sport looks at nine players who could take advantage of a first-team run out on the Premier League’s finale to the season. 

Cole Palmer is already a Premier League winner but will get another opportunity to impress 

Dominic Ballard (Southampton)

The Saints will be preparing for life in the Championship next season and, while that may see some of their stars depart the club, it could present opportunities for some of the younger talent – including promising striker Dominic Ballard. 

The forward already has two first-team goals to his name, having netted in both cup competitions this season, and given Southampton’s lack of a goal-scorer this year it would be the perfect time to show what he could do next year to help Southampton bounce straight back up. 

At youth level, he’s proved to be as prolific as they come – having netted 13 goals in 16 Premier League 2 appearances this season, with three assists as well.  

Ballard has already shown his striking prowess having netted in both cup competitions 

Zidane Iqbal (Manchester United)

Another midfielder who’s on the brink of the first-team after impressing in United’s Under-21 team and on international duty for Iraq earlier this year. 

Iqbal has already made his full debut for the club, becoming the first British South Asian to play in the Champions League when he appeared against Young Boys last season. 

With the big all-Manchester Cup Final up ahead, Sunday could be the ideal time to give the tricky midfield star his Premier League bow.

Carney Chukwuemeka (Chelsea)

The teenage midfielder swapped Aston Villa for the Blues in the summer, but has found it difficult to break into Chelsea’s huge squad after Todd Boehly’s £600m spending spree. 

With just 13 Premier League appearances this term, and no goal involvements to show for it, it’s certainly been a season of adjustment for Chukwuemeka. 

Frank Lampard has started to give the younger players a runout in Chelsea’s final games and it could see another opportunity for Chukwuemeka to stake a claim in what will be a number of squad changes for the West London club in the summer.

Cole Palmer (Manchester City)

Many expected Palmer to be sent on loan this season, but the 21-year-old stayed at the Etihad and has managed to clock-up 24 appearances in all competitions this season – and continues to be included by Pep Guardiola. 

He played the full 90 minutes in their recent 1-0 win over Chelsea, where he caused problems down Chelsea’s right-hand side all match and grabbed the assist for the winner. 

With an FA Cup Final and Champions League Final ahead for Guardiola’s team, he maybe tempted to rotate his squad, giving the midfielder another chance to press his claim amongst City’s all-star championship winning squad. 

There’s no denying that Pep Guardiola is a fan of Palmer and his featured over twenty times 

Lewis Miley (Newcastle)

The 17-year-old midfielder has been training with the first-team for most of the season and Eddie Howe has spoke glowingly about his future at the club. 

Miley made the bench for Newcastle’s game with Brighton earlier this month and having pulled him out of England’s European Under-17 Championship, it would appear Howe could hand him his debut on the final day of the season.  

Miley has only just signed a professional contract but could be set for his Newcastle debut 

Amario Cozier-Duberry (Arsenal)

Dubbed the jewel of Arsenal’s current academy crop, Amario Cozier-Duberry has already made the match day squad for the Gunners this season, indicating it can’t be long before his unleashed. 

Likened to Bukayo Saka, the 17-year-old has risen through Arsenal’s Under-18’s and Under-21’s thanks to his array of goals and assists and with Mikel Arteta’s side left with nothing to play for on Sunday, it could be the perfect setting for his full debut.

Ben Doak (Liverpool)

Doak became the youngest Scottish player to make a Premier League appearance when he made his Liverpool debut against Aston Villa in December and we could see another outing for the winger this weekend. 

The 17-year-old has already made two Premier League appearances for the Reds this year, making substitute appearances against Brighton and Aston Villa. 

With Liverpool’s top four hopes dashed by Manchester United, the trip to Southampton is an ideal opportunity to allow a few of the Reds impressive youngsters – like Doak – to give Jurgen Klopp some food for thought ahead of next season.

Divin Mubama (West Ham)

West Ham have a European Final to look forward to in ten days or so, and while David Moyes will want his established names to continue that momentum there maybe a temptation to blood a few new faces against Leicester. 

Mubama has already seen some first-team action this season, making six appearances and scoring his first goal for the club in Europa Conference League win over AEK Larnaca.

Another cameo on the final day would continue the exciting 18-year-old’s progress into the Hammers first-team picture.

Mubama has already notched his first Hammers goal and there could be plenty more to come 

Facundo Buonanotte (Brighton)

Next off the impressive Brighton recruitment line comes Argentine striker Facundo Buonanotte, who’s already shown what he can do with a goal in the 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in April. 

He’s already done enough to impress the national team and was called-up to the senior squad for the international friendlies in March. 

Another run out in the Seagulls final game will set him up nicely for further involvement next season when Brighton embark on their first-ever European adventure. 

The next big star of Brighton’s first team could be Argentinian striker Facundo Buonanotte
