Newcastle United remain keen to add Harvey Barnes from Leicester City.

Barnes is set to exit the Foxes following their relegation, and four Premier League sides are interested.

West Ham, Aston Villa and Tottenham have all enquired about the 25-year-old England international, but Newcastle are also involved if the price is right.

Leicester will hope to sell Barnes for £35m before the end of the transfer window, having already jettisoned James Maddison off to Tottenham Hotspur in a £45m deal.

Spurs have expressed an interest in Barnes, which would allow the former Leicester teammates to work together again, but they may not be attractive due to a lack of European football.

West Ham will have money following the likely sale of Declan Rice, and they can offer Europa League football. Aston Villa qualified for the Europa Conference League.

But Newcastle made it into the top four of the Premier League when the season ended in May, and the offer of Champions League football may swing in the favour of the Magpies if they formally enter into the chat for Barnes’ signature.

It follows on from the Magpies welcoming new £52m signing from AC Milan Sandro Tonali on Wednesday.

Tonali flew in for a tour of St James’ Park and the city yesterday.

He will fly back to Milan before linking up with his new teammates on Tyneside next week.

Meanwhile Aston Villa, who also admire Barnes, have asked again about Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

The 20-year-old has been on the Spanish team’s books since making his way through their youth set-up.
