Nets Agree To Trade James Harden To 76ers For Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Drummond, Two First Rounders

The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to trade James Harden and Paul Millsap for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first round picks.

The 2022 first round pick is unprotected while the 2027 selection will be protected. Brooklyn can defer the 2022 pick until 2023. The 2027 selection is protected 1-8 and again in 2028. The pick then turns into two second round picks and $2 million in 2029.

Harden had been seeking a trade from the Nets over the past few weeks, while Simmons and the 76ers had wanted a deal dating back to July.

The 76ers and Nets were said to be haggling over the inclusion of Matisse Thybulle shortly before the trade was finalized.

Daryl Morey and the 76ers had sought a trade with the Houston Rockets in January 2021, but the Nets won that sweepstakes.

Harden will seek a new contract this offseason as he becomes eligible for a five-year, $269 million deal.

“Brooklyn knew that he was likely headed there in free agency this summer,” said Adrian Wojnarowski of Harden ultimately ending up in Philadelphia in the offseason.
