Nearly half of country believes the Premier League is returning TOO SOON, new YouGov poll reveals

The Premier League is finally returning on June 17 following a three-month suspension, but nearly half of the people in England believe the restart date is too early, according to a new poll.

The Premier League are finalising plans to get the season back up and running as safely as possible after it was suspended at the beginning of March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And next Wednesday the action will get back underway again as Aston Villa host Sheffield United while Manchester City take on Arsenal at the Etihad in an eagerly-awaited clash.

However, according to a new YouGov poll, there appear to be ongoing worries among the public as nearly half of the country – 48 per cent – believe that the English top flight is resuming too soon. 

Furthermore, 39 per cent of football supporters don’t feel the season should be resuming in just five days’ time. 

Meanwhile, only 26 per cent of the nation say it is the right time for the Premier League to be returning with concerns over the pandemic still very much lingering.

And finally, just two per cent of the public and four per cent of Premier League fans feel the season is coming back too late. 

The last slice of Premier League action was back on March 9 when Leicester thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Sport was soon stopped altogether as the Government enforced lockdown rules in the bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.
