NBA’s Deadline For Traded Players To Be Re-Aggregated Arrives Tuesday

The NBA’s deadline for players to be traded and remain eligible to be aggregated in another trade before the deadline on March 25th is on Tuesday, February 2nd. It has become a date on the calendar that front offices circle as having some level of importance on how they evaluate the trade market. Any player can be traded after February 2nd and then traded again, but they cannot be combined with other players to match salary.

“I’m trying to decide whether Tuesday is a big deal or not,” said Brian Windhorst. “As I talk to executives around the league over the last three to five days, they keep bringing up Tuesday as a trade day. Because it is the re-aggregation deadline.”

Bobby Marks points out that the George Hill trade going from Cleveland to Milwaukee in 2018 is the only deal of note that occurred on the re-aggregation deadline since 2016.

“I don’t know if we’re going to see a lot of action here,” said Marks.

“I don’t think it’s completely bogus, but I think it’s a tactic,” added Windhorst of the re-aggregation deadline.
