NBA Opens Investigation Into Tampering Charges Against Jerry West, Clippers Over Kawhi Leonard

The NBA has launched an investigation into tampering allegations surrounding the Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi Leonard.

A report from TMZ details a lawsuit filed by Johnny Wilkes that Jerry West owes him $2.5 million for his role in helping the Clippers sign Leonard.

The NBA deemed it concerning enough to open an investigation.

West denied doing anything improper.

“I am not aware of any lawsuit being filed against me and I deny engaging in any improper conduct in connection with the signing of Kawhi Leonard,” said West.

The Clippers issued a statement denying any wrongdoing.

“The lawsuit filed by Johnny Wilkes is replete with inaccuracies and the allegations are baseless. The Clippers are fully cooperating with the NBA in its investigation, which is standard when these types of allegations are made.

“(The Clippers) are providing the NBA with evidence the allegations are false.”
