Nathan Ake Names 4 Chelsea Players And 2 City Stars Among The Best He Has Played Alongside

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has listed no less than six players among the best he has played with during his professional career.

The Dutchman spent six years at Chelsea, while he is now in his third season at City, and the centre-back has chosen his favourites from his time at both teams:

“This is really difficult. I’ve played with a lot of very good players. At Chelsea I played with (Didier) Drogba, (Eden) Hazard, (John) Terry, and (Frank) Lampard, they were top of their game and now I play with (Erling) Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne. So it’s difficult to say one. I’m going to put all those names up there.”

Ake was also asked about the best opponents, and he went with two Liverpool players: Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah, as well as Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Even though Ake had a tough start to life at City, spending the majority of his first season at the Etihad out injured, he has gone on to become a very important player for manager Pep Guardiola.

The 28-year-old’s ability to play both as a centre-back and fullback offers Guardiola a great deal of tactical flexibility, and the departure of Joao Cancelo on loan in January has increased his value to the team even further.
