Mohamed Elneny clinches individual Arsenal prize for 2020/21 season
Arsenal star Mohamed Elneny has taken to social media, to confirm that he has been honoured with the award for the club’s Goal of the Season.
Gunners rotation piece
The 2020/21 campaign of course proved something of a hit and miss one for Elneny in North London.
The Egyptian, on the back of a loan spell in Turkey with Besiktas, was widely expected to be moved on on a permanent basis last summer.
After impressing in pre-season, and with midfield options thin at the Emirates following the loan departures of both Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, though, the decision was ultimately made for Elneny to stay put.
And, despite the 29-year-old having been viewed as little more than a backup option to the likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, he nevertheless went on to feature rather heavily.
In fact, across the Premier League campaign, Elneny was afforded starts by Mikel Arteta in just shy of half of the Gunners’ outings.
Dundalk thunderbolt
It was in the Europa League, however, where Elneny was handed the most consistent game-time.
The midfielder managed appearances in 12 of Arsenal’s 14 fixtures on the continent, notching a pair of goals in the process.
And one of the strikes in question, as outlined above, has today seen Elneny rewarded by those in a position of power in North London.
As confirmed by the former Basel man himself, he has clinched the prestigious accolade for the Gunners’ Goal of the Season for the 2020/21 campaign:
So happy to have my trophy for my 20/21 Goal of the Season award! Thank you to everyone that voted for me, I am very grateful for your support. pic.twitter.com/7sLK6zhlrH

The goal to have landed Elneny his latest piece of individual silverware came in the group stages, when, out of the blue, the Egyptian international lashed a stunning right-footed effort into the top right-hand corner of the Dundalk net:
