Michael Owen Predicts The Result As City Take On United In The Carabao Cup

Ex-Manchester United striker Michael Owen is expecting his former club to come out on top when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final tomorrow night.

The BT Sport pundit says he thinks the Red Devils will field a slightly stronger side than the Citizens and this could give them the edge in this encounter:

“City have failed to score in their last 4 visits to Old Trafford. United should line up with the same side that defeated Aston Villa at the weekend with Dean Henderson the only exception in goal.”

“With both sides in such good form, it’s no doubt going to be a tight match. That said, Manchester United have tremendous momentum. I think they’ll have just enough against a City side who may be slightly understrength on the night.”

Owen has gone with a 2-1 win for United, which is a somewhat surprising prediction considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side don’t have the best home record at Old Trafford this season.

In contrast, City are flying after winning 3-1 away at Chelsea on Sunday, but the two days of extra rest their Manchester rivals have had may play a role, both in terms of energy and team selection.

Pep Guardiola has an excellent record in this competition and you wouldn’t bet against his side reaching the final as they look to win the tournament for the fourth year in a row.
