Mesut Ozil did not join Fenerbahce as a free agent/Arsenal could be in line to receive small sum
An insight into the terms of the eventual deal which took Mesut Ozil from Arsenal to Fenerbahce has been provided, with the move, in the end, having come in the form of a permanent transfer.
Fener switch
The major talking point at Arsenal this past weekend of course surrounded confirmation of the departure of long-time midfielder Ozil.
Following weeks of rampant speculation, both the Gunners, and Fenerbahce, announced that the German had indeed departed the former, to link up with the latter in the Turkish Super Lig.
This came with Ozil having not lined out in north London on a single occasion since last March, having been frozen out by Mikel Arteta.

The gifted midfielder’s exit brought to an end a 7-and-a-half year stay for Ozil at the Emirates, a spell which saw him rack up 44 goals, 77 assists, and a quartet of major trophies.
Transfer terms
As outlined above, however, whilst widespread focus has of course centered on Ozil’s departure itself, little attention has seemingly been paid to the terms which saw the transfer come to fruition.
Until yesterday, the general assumption had been that the 32-year-old’s contract was set to be terminated, to facilitate a free agent move to Istanbul.
In the end, however, this didn’t actually prove to be the case.
Instead, Ozil completed a permanent transfer to Fenerbahce.
And though there was no initial fee attached, the move could, long-term, see Arsenal bag a minor financial return.
This comes based on bonuses agreed upon between the two clubs, with the Gunners in line to receive a rumoured maximum of €1.7 million.
