Marianne Williamson blasts DNC for supporting Biden in 2024, refusing to hold debates

Self-help author and long-shot presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson on Monday accused the Democratic National Committee of flouting “democratic principle” by openly supporting President Biden in the 2024 race.

“I don’t think it’s good for democracy,” Williamson told Fox News Digital

“I think it’s very important that the Democratic electorate get a chance to weigh in. I look at the campaign season as a long job interview process and the voters should have a chance to interview all of the candidates for the job and that does include the president,” the spiritual guru argued.

The Washington Post reported in April that the Democratic Party will “support Biden’s reelection” and “has no plans to sponsor primary debates” despite polls showing that most Americans didn’t want the 80-year-old incumbent to be the party’s standard bearer in 2024.

“I do think they should recognize that people are watching,” Williamson said of the DNC. “And people don’t like this. It’s kind of outrageous how overt they are about absolutely admitting that they are doing what they can in the primary season to support the president.”

The latest RealClearPolitics average of polls has Williamson receiving 5.7% support from voters, compared to Biden’s 64%.

Former President John F. Kennedy’s nephew, Robert F. Kennedy, is pulling in an average of 14.4% support from voters in his own long-shot White House bid.

“It’s just against democratic principle. Those of us that are running should be heard,” Williamson said of the DNC’s treatment of Biden’s challengers.

“And it’s not even just what we deserve — those of us that are running. It’s what the people deserve. It’s what the voters deserve,” she added.

Williamson’s pathway for any sort of success in the 2024 primaries will likely be through the traditionally early presidential nominating states of Iowa and New Hampshire, which may not be able to move their voting dates back to comply with the DNC’s new primary calendar.

The Biden campaign, according to reports, is indicating the president won’t be listed in Iowa and New Hampshire if they vote before South Carolina, which the DNC voted to move ahead of Iowa as the first-in-the-nation Democratic primary.

By doing so, Biden risks suffering two humiliating defeats to either Williamson or Kennedy Jr. early in the nominating process.

“The American people are pesky group — aren’t we. So it’s pretty typically traditionally American to not like that kind of manipulation. To not like that kind of control. So, I’m not surprised that these states are saying ‘wait a minute, we’re not going to just do what the DNC says.’ There’s something bigger at stake here than what the DNC wants and that’s the democratic process itself,” Williamson said.

Williamson’s 2020 presidential campaign came to an end before the Iowa caucuses despite becoming one of the most Googled Democratic candidates after a debate performance where she accused former President Donald Trump of conjuring up “dark psychic force” in the US.

The viral candidate championed issues in 2020 that included establishing a “Department of Peace” and doling out $100 billion in reparations.
