Manchester United’s players have already decided on who they want as their next manager

Manchester United’s players have already chosen who they would like to be their next manager, according to a report in the Telegraph.

James Ducker reports that most of the squad have plumped on Paris Saint Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as their preferred choice come the summer, claiming:

‘Pochettino’s man-management skills, hands-on expertise on the training ground, track record of developing players, style of play and Premier League experience are understood to be currying him real favour among notable parts of the United squad.’

Following a ‘successful’ spell at Tottenham, where he took the Lilywhites to a Champions League final but ultimately left trophyless, Pochettino is seemingly set to depart Paris come the end of the season after an underwhelming tenure to date.

The Argentine saw his side lose the Ligue 1 title to Lille last season, while they also lost in the Champions League semi-final at the hands of Manchester City last campaign.

How is Rangnick doing?

In truth, it is hard to tell. Results have not really picked up under the German tactician, and the Red Devils were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Burnley on Tuesday evening, coming off the back of being knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough.

Cristiano Ronaldo has stopped scoring the goals that kept Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his job for so long, and the results have dried up as they look to make up ground in the top four race. And, while those around them continue to slip up, they will need to find some form sooner rather than later.
